Akatsi South DCE Exposed As Fertilizer Thief

The District Chief Executive for Akatsi South in the Volta Region, Leo-Nelson Adzidogah, has been flagged to President Akufo-Addo as a criminal who used his position to smuggle fertilizer subsidies provided by the government outside the country for black market sale.

Mr. Adzidogah is said to have connived with another man to smuggle bags of the fertilizers provided under the Planting for Food and Jobs program, to Togo, for sale.

The accusation is contained in a petition to President Akufo-Addo by constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, constituency council of elders and members of the Akatsi South NPP who advise President Akufo-Addo not to re-nominate the embattled DCE.

“Hon. Leo-Nelson Adzidogah was accused of using his office as DCE to smuggle Subsidized Fertilizers meant for the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme to neighboring Togo. He was accused by Hon. Susu Dogah who happens to be NPP Polling Station Chairman for Live (a suburb of Akatsi), former Assembly Member and a renowned rice farmer,” read the petition.

“The DCE collaborated with a retired Akatsi South District Agric Director in the person of Mr. KA Cosmos Marshall, the Constituency Secretary and Treasurer to smuggle the Planting for Food and Jobs Subsidized Fertilizers to neighboring Togo. Mr. President, Hon. Susu Dogah petitioned your high office as well as the Public Relations Complain Committee (PRCC) of the Akatsi South District Assembly for which the DCE was investigated and indicted but PRCC denied the Complainant a copy of their Findings and Recommendations for his further action against the DCE,” the petitioners wrote.

Lead petitioner is Patrick Escu Xormenyo Agboyibor, the Assistant Secretary of NPP in Akatsi South.

Other petitioners include Mensah Kadzaku, Akatsi South NPP Youth Organizer) and Veronica Sakpaku, Women’s Organizer of the Constituency.

The petition which was copied to the Vice President also accused the DCE of incompetence and lack of resourcefulness.
