Damba festival is celebrated by the people of the Northern, Savanna, North East and Upper West Regions of Ghana. The festival is celebrated in the Dagomba lunar month of Damba corresponding to the third month of the islamic calender, Rabi ul Awwal marking the birth of the holy prophet muhammad peace be upon him.



On sunday November 27 2021, the people of Madina celebrated Damba festival with style. Invited guest of the occassion Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama memeber of the ruling government and the member of parliament for Yendi constituency.
” Education is very critical in our endeavors. My father, the late Aljhaji Aliu Mahama, the fisrt muslim vice president having comefrom a poor background, it was education that got him to where he is. I wish every dagomba or any tribe for that matter, education is the key to the development of every community.”



He also added that, ” i have set up an educational fund Farouk Aliu Mahama educational fund. we spend about GHS300,000 in paying school fees of the less privilege in the society.




The honorable member of parliament gave a whopping sum of GHS5,000 for the development of education in the Dagbon Madina community.


A poor child from madina can also rise up to become the president In shaa Allah from a Dagomba fraternity he said.
